is we have a unique opportunity to do something big. we have a chance to stabilize america's finances for a decade, for 15 years or 20 years. if we're willing to seize the moment. what that would require would be some shared sacrifice and a balanced approach that says we're going to make significant cuts in domestic spending. and i have already said i'm willing to take down domestic spending to the lowest percentage of our overall economy since dwight eisenhower. it also requires cuts in defense spending. and i've said that in addition to the $400 billion that we've already cut from defense spending we're willing to look for hundreds of billions more. it would require us taking on health care spending. and that includes looking at medicare and finding ways that we can stabilize the system so that it is available not just for this generation but for future generations. and it would require revenues. it would require, even as we're asking the person who needs a student loan or the senior citizen or, you know, people -- veterans who are trying to get by on a disability check, even as we'

get to be big, big problems. >> so those are some of the warnings signs, or are there warning signs that you are taking in -- that you are just too hot? >> i did get all the way to eventually the first stages of heat stroke one time in my life in nebraska when i was working outside. the first thing you need to do, obviously, drink all the water you can. if you feel crap thats in your legs or stomach, that means you are not getting that water, and you will feel not first but cramps. that's the first step. and then after that, if you feel like you can't just stand up anymore -- when i got to the point, i could not drive my car home. somebody had to drive me home because i could not function. my brain would not function at all. at 104 degrees you're in a heat stroke, and you need medical attention because you are vomiting. if you start to vomit, you need to get out of the heat and get your body temperature taken down. if you are not sweating anymore, you need to go to the hospital. >> what about the fact that it got so hot so fast? has that made a difference in a case like this? >> no

. but they seem to be quite optimistic they're moving towards something and a big endorsement, this earlier today from the top negotiator democrat in the senate, harry reid. a lot of moving parts. trying to get a hold on t. and talk about republicans. do we know where they stand on the approval of this deal? >> reporter: yeah. that is a big question, because the house republicans, you saw just how hard it was for the house republican leadership to get their own bill through the house, and to get their own members onboard for this deal. talking about a compromise, you can only guess that might be even a tougher sale, possibly. we haven't heard yet from house speaker john boehner or house leadership and where they stand on things. we know, though, however, we are told by a top senate republican leadership aide that they're not there yet and still working. so it seems like they're still working on the deal. clearly, not at a place harry reid is at this point and that's a big question of where are republicans going to stand on this? are they going to endorse it and what their issues are with it. don?

consecutively. in other words, one after another, not concurrently, which was one of the big questions. she's already served about three years. she gets good time. she gets something which in florida they call gain time. right now the attorneys for both prosecution and defense are still in the courtroom sort of putting their heads together to figure out, well, what will be the exact release date? they know one thing, it is not going to be today. the judge had indicated, while in the proceedings that it could be around the end of july or august. in the meantime, a small gathering really of protesters. not the kind we anticipated to see really given the nature of how high emotions have been running. security is very high. you've got sheriff's deputies on horseback here. you've got helicopters hovering overhead. and you've got deputies walking all around the grounds here. but for the most part, it has remained calm as they continue to try to figure out exactly when will casey anthony go free. >> martin, there are demonstrators out there. what are they saying to you? are they upset? do they thi

this if there is a framework. they are pushing for something big. trils of dollars in deficit savings the course of ten years. reminder of the moving parts that a deal like that would require the next several days major spending cuts, tax reform, entitlement reform and if democrats in the white house were to get their way, tax increases. you can see that is pretty much a heavy lift and so you still have a lot of people looking to a more modest deal that the top democrat and republican in the senate, harry reid and mitchell mcconnell are trying to work out which would be more spending cuts and perhaps more modest and perhaps giving the president the unenviable position to have to increase the debtcele himself with a minority support from congress. >> brianna keilar, thanks. >>> government is scrambling to pay its bills here is something americans don't want to hear. billions of dollars in your tax money is being wasted in afghanistan or worse. a new federal audit says that some of that cash may be funding, are you ready for this? the same insurgency that is killing americans. chris lawrence is at the pentagon

economic system in the world and saying what on earth is going on? how has it got so bad? the really big fear ultimately is that there is some sort of accident. basically, a vote doesn't take place. somebody loses, and somebody doesn't turn up, and ultimately a technical default actually happens. now all the rating agencies have pretty much said we accept if there is default, it will be short lived. this is a case of won't pay, not can't pay. randi, these are delicate times and certainly the global economy is in no fit state for these sort of shaw than begans. >> how significant is it if the rating slips? >> it's significant because it's just like our credit rating on our credit cards. if you are lower down the scale, you have to pay a higher interest rate or you may not get as much credit. if the u.s. loses it's aaa rating, and it's only one of a handful of countries, an kcanadd australia, two of the others that never defaulted, if they lose their aaa rating, then the government has to pay more for its money. i suspect the aaa would come back quickly, but the damage would have been done
